The Vancouver Black Therapy & Advocacy Fund raises funds to connect Black community members with accredited Black counsellors and therapists locally. At Bakau, we’re no strangers to the importance of mental health supports and advocacy. This summer, we are supporting their efforts with a pledge to raise $2,000 and will match donations up to this goal amount.

Discussing March 16, 2021 is a balancing act. It means navigating the ways in which we are socially conditioned to articulate racism, misogyny, classism, and our hatred for sex workers, while also acknowledging individual accountability, culpability and agency. Put bluntly: six Asian women were killed because of our collective reticence to admit just how bad our racism and misogyny is, and just how deeply rooted it is in our society.
